Terracotta is now available for the leather and body paint of this popular roadster.
Mazda knows that the Miata will always be the answer. The 2022MY was officially launched in Japan. It hasn’t been modified much and it is still a great car. The Kinematic Posture Control, which is used to suspend the suspension, is the most significant innovation.
KPC brakes the inner wheel to produce anti-lift force. The roadster feels more planted when it corners at higher speeds. The engineers are obsessed (in good ways) with keeping Miata’s weight low. You’ll be pleased to learn that the suspension upgrade doesn’t add any extra weight. KPC can calculate the turning conditions in real time based on the difference between the right and left wheels at the back. The difference between the left and right wheels at the back determines whether or not it has an impact to “produce a natural posture stabilizing effect.” The MX-5 will feel the same during normal driving but if you push it harder it will be more stable.
The 990S special edition, which was first shown at a local event late October, is now officially in The Land of the Rising Sun. The lightest trim level gets 16-inch RAYS forged tires to cut 800g (1.76 lb) at each corner. This gives it a weight of 3.2 kg (seven lb). Mazda fitted the car with Brembo ventilated disks with four-piston brake calipers in black with blue lettering at each corner and black calipers for its rear.
It weighs in at 990 kg (2,182 lb), making it 30 kg (66 lb) lighter than the 1989 MX-5 NA. The S version is the same as the S with the 6-speed manual transmission. However, it has been modified to include additional tweaks to the dampers and coil springs, the electric power steering, the engine, and the engine.
It also comes with blue/piano-black accents on the air vents and exclusive floor mats. Mazda Japan will charge Y=2,893,000 Japanese yen (about $25,300 at current exchange rates), for the purest version.
The JDM-spec MX-5 receives a Terracotta Selection version of the RF model for Y=3,798,300 (33,300). Both body styles get the Platinum Quartz Metallic paint. The roadster is now available with a navy fabric top that combines a black leather interior and a dark-blue roof. It costs Y=3,191,100 ($28,000). Mazda Japan will sell the rear-wheel drive sports car with the 1.5-liter engine, while the RF gets a 2.0-liter unit. The mildly updated roadster will be available locally starting in January, with the navy fabric topspec being sold until May 31, 2022.
