It can produce up to 751 horsepower.
The 2022 Mercedes-AMG Mercedes-AMG EqS will be available at US dealers in the spring. It will retail for $148,550. This price includes the $1.050 destination fee and plenty of power from AMG’s first battery-electric production vehicle.
The AMG EqS has impressive performance numbers. With the boost function, the dual-motor powertrain can produce 751 horsepower (560 Kilowatts) or 752 pound-feet (1.020 Newton-meters). Standard output of the car is 649 horsepower (483 kW) with 700 lb-ft (949Nm) of torque. Mercedes offers the AMGEQS in two trims, Exclusive and Pinnacle. The company did not specify the differences.
The AMGEQS will be available with a wide range of standard features, including the massive 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. This screen hides three screens beneath one sheet of glass. Each AMG EQS model comes with the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all wheel-drive system, AMG Ride Control+ suspension and rear-wheel steering. You also get the brand’s safety features.
AMG did much more than just increase the power. Engineers modified several parts of the car to give it a unique subframe and motor mountings. AMG Sound Experience allows drivers to choose three different sound effects for their cars.
The car can get over-the-air updates to reset the battery management system. It draws power from a 107.8-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery. Although the range of the AMG EQS is not yet known, it can increase range by 186 miles (300 km) in 15 minutes using quick-charging. Mercedes will provide AMG EQS customers with complimentary DC fast charging for 30 minutes and two years free maintenance.
Although the 2022 Mercedes-AMG-EQS is a new product for the brand’s performance brand, it will not be the last. Both fully and partial electric powertrains have been a growing trend in the Mercedes-AMG ranges. We will be able to find out the official range of the car’s powertrains closer to its launch in spring. The AMG EQS is $45,000 more expensive than the standard EQS, which starts at just over $100,000. Is the additional power worth the premium price?
