2022 Mercedes AMG S63 Rebuilt, Expected to Have Nearly 700 Horsepower

The AMG S65 is dead! Mercedes plans to offer two AMG S-Class versions.

Daimler is determined to AMG almost everything, so you can be sure that the Mercedes S-Class will get the Affalterbach treatment. The V12-powered S65 has been replaced by the Final Edition based on W222, but the S63 will continue to live and will be joined by a hotter S73. Both will be given the “e” letter at the end their names to signify electrification.

It is widely believed that the hybrid powertrain will be featured in both the S63e/S73e. X-Tomi Design created the “lesser” AMG S-Class model, with the intimidating front grille and vertical slats in a matte black finish. The bumper is more aggressive and features larger intakes that supply air to the upgraded powertrain.

These are the usual upgrades that you would expect from an S-Class to transition from a Benz model to an AMG one. They also include a lower ride height and a larger number of alloy wheels. X–Tomi Design doesn’t give us a rear view, but there are quad exhaust tips flanked by a sporty diffuser and a subtle trunk lid spoiler.

According to reports, the first ever S63e will use a twin-turbo V8 engine with a 4.0-liter displacement and an electric motor at its back. A recent report by Autocar claims that the hybrid setup can produce nearly 700 horsepower. The S73e, which is more powerful, will use the same engine as the S73e but with a stronger electric motor to produce a little over 800 horsepower. They will also share a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It will be interesting to see the EV range of these two performance sedans.

The Maybach, if we are talking about future S-Class derivatives is the first order. The Maybach will make its debut at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November. This means that the AMGs are likely to follow in 2021. Spy shots also revealed that an armored Guard Model is being developed.
