Be ready. The AMG PHEVs will soon be available.
The new Mercedes S-Class already has a variety of powertrain options, ranging from the powerful V12 to inline-sixes. As part of the company’s line of electrified performance vehicles, an AMG will soon join the Maybach and Benz models. It will carry the E Performance branding.
To hold wires that appear to be running from the interior of the cabin to the rear door, on the driver’s right, to the prototype’s underside, good ol’duct tape is used. AMG must have been testing the electrified sports car limo at the Nurburgring to make some final tweaks to its hybrid S63. The light camouflage suggests that the official unveiling will be sooner than expected.
Rumours suggest that the S63e will have a twin-turbo V8 gasoline engine and an electric motor, for a combined output of over 700 horsepower. There are plans to make an even more powerful S73e with approximately 800 horsepower, which could be used as an indirect successor to the S65. Both AMGs will likely come with an all-wheel drive and an automated transmission.
Keep in mind that an additional 800-hp AMG is on the horizon as the flagship GT 4-Door Coupe with an electrified engine will be unveiled in the coming months. The F1-engined One hypercar, which will be delivered to customers later in the year after long delays, will be the crown jewel of Affalterbach’s electrified family.
