Mercedes appears eager to show off its EQS electric car. As development continues, the company is already showing off its sleek interior in a variety of configurations. New spy photos show that the model has lost some of its camouflage and exposed a lot of sheet metal beneath. The EQS still wears camo on the front and back fascias.
New spy photos show a sedan with smooth sides and a sleek greenhouse. The rear liftback design blends the roofline with the front, while the front has a unique cut in fenders, giving the sedan a huge, single-piece front hood. The exterior isn’t too surprising. Mercedes teased the exterior this month This gives us an idea of what we can expect.
The brand’s S Class luxury sedan will be EQS, while the S-Class will be EQS. It will also ride on the new Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) and become the first all-electric brand vehicle. The automaker has not revealed any details about the powertrain, but did say that the sedan will provide more than 435 miles (700 km) of range. However, this is based on the European WLTP test so you can expect less in the US.
The new model will have tech as its main focus. The interior has been shown by the company, including the version that will use the optional MBUX Hyperscreen LCD display. This displays three screens under one piece of scratch-resistant glass. The 12 actuators under the touchscreen surfaces provide haptic feedback. Non-Hyperscreen-EQS sedans will feature an interior layout similar that of the S-Class. Both have the 12.8-inch infotainment screens.
Mercedes will reveal the 2022 EQS fully on April 15, before it goes on sale later in the year.
