The Mercedes-Benz Citan makes its official debut, joining the light commercial vehicle lineup in Europe. The new small van, which is a joint effort by Renault and Daimler, shares many similarities to the recently revealed Renault Kangoo family.

The new Citan is a small van designed for European markets. It comes with a diesel engine. It was sourced from Renault. The engine will be available in three power levels – 74 horsepower (55 Kilowatts), 95 hp (70.5 kW), or 114 hp (80.5 kW). The cargo version will have all three options, while the Citan Tourer will only be available with the mid-range diesel. Mercedes offers a 1.3-liter turbo engine with either 101 horsepower (75 kW), or 129 horsepower (96 kW).
As an alternative to the Volkswagen Caddy and Ford Tourneo Connect in Europe, the new Citan will be available in Europe from mid-September. The fully-electric version of the Citan will be available in showrooms by the second half next year. It is expected to have a range of 177 miles (285km) according to the WLTP cycle.
