The redesigned 2022 Outlander gave Mitsubishi’s old lineup a boost with a much-needed injection of metal. To further enhance the crossover’s design appeal, Mitsubishi has introduced the Outlander Black Edition.
The Outlander now has a new package that includes a few visual upgrades and unique combinations of standard equipment. Black bumper garnishes on the front and rear of the crossover, as well as black door handle trim and side mirrors are included. Mitsubishi gives the model 20-inch alloy wheels in black and finishes the interior with a black headliner, black pillars and black carpet.
The 2022 Outlander Black Edition adds dual-zone climate control to the SE trim and a power panoramic solar roof. Mitsubishi offers the Black Edition with all wheel drive at an additional cost. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine of 181 horsepower (125-watt) propels the vehicle while producing 181 pound-feet (245 Newton meters) of torque. Mitsubishi pairs the engine and a continuously variable transmission.
Although the new Outlander shares many similarities with the 2021 Nissan Rogue’s powertrain, the interior design is original. The Mitsubishi 2022 Outlander was based on the Engelberg Tourer Concept, but the company streamlined the styling to make it more practical. A 12.30-inch digital instrument cluster sits next to the large infotainment display in the redesigned model. The cabin experience is also improved by a better fit-and finish.
The Outlander PHEV was introduced by Mitsubishi late last year. It can travel 54 miles on electric-only, but the Black Edition isn’t available with this powertrain. The Outlander PHEV will be available for the model year 2023. Mitsubishi has not provided any details on the hybrid but we do know that the electrified powertrain generates 221 horsepower (165 kW) combined.
Mitsubishi claims that the 2022 Outlander Black Edition has been released and can be built using the configurator . The 2022 Outlander Black Edition is available at $31,240. All prices include $1,245 delivery charge. A Black Edition model with all wheel drive will cost you $33,040. External colors are also available for $595: White Diamond, Black Diamond and Red Diamond.
