A tent and bed rack are more useful for overlanding pickups.
The last Nissan Frontier was a great value, but a heavy-duty beast of burden. With a significantly improved cabin, powerful powertrain and sleek looks, the new model stands out. After a strong showing at Overland Expo West Nissan’s mid-size pickup can now add a healthy list of Nismo tuned goodies.
The Frontier’s Nismo catalog now includes 4.0-inch offroad lights, an overland rack, a Nismo-branded roof tent and a free-breathing cat back exhaust system. Let’s take a look at what’s new.
These off-road lights are large and bright. They have a maximum illumination of 3,060 lumens. This is about twice the output of a 100-watt incandescent bulb. It’s also housed in a compact housing, which should be durable due to its aluminum waterproof construction. The LED units draw a modest 2.0 amp.
Although the bed rack increases the Frontier’s cargo capacity, we are not sure how much. We have reached out to Nissan for more information. Nissan does not list the weight limit. However, the company mentions that the rack is available in low and high versions, and that they are available now.
You might want to read the section on the bed rack if all you care about is the tent. This is a prerequisite (or similar mount) to mount the two-person sleeping arrangement. It can hold up to 600 people and weighs in at 132 pounds. The aluminum ladder that extends to the side of the truck is 6.9 feet long and allows you to climb into the tent.
The stainless-steel catback exhaust completes the lineup. It also includes the Xterra SUV as well as regular and XD versions . Nissan did not include clips showing how the new exhaust system affects Frontier’s 3.8-liter V6.
You can view the entire range of Nismo parts available for Frontier on Nissan’s accessories website. You already have a lift kit and additional lighting options.
