All details will be made public on February 4.
Although this Nissan video is short, it’s worth watching if you enjoy the sound of internal combustion. Although there’s not much to see in this teaser, Nissan’s message is clear with this video. You can still get your Pathfinder with a V6 engine thanks to electrification and turbocharged 4-cylinder engines.
In the six second clip, you can hear the distinctive growl of a six pot. This is almost certain to be the 3.5-liter V6 found in the current-generation model. The current model produces 284 horsepower (212 Kilowatts) as well as 259 pound-feet (351 Nms) of twist. This isn’t bad, but it’s not exceptional in the mid-size SUV segment which is the most competitive in the automotive market.
Although we don’t know if there will be a power boost, rumors suggest that the 2.0-liter VC turbocharged four cylinder from the Altima will be available. The sedan’s engine produces 248 horsepower (185 kW), which is slightly less than the V6. The torque is higher at 273lb-ft (371 Nm), making it a more appealing choice for buyers. We’ve been told that the CVT, which was not well-loved, will be replaced by a nine speed automatic transmission. This upgrade alone could mean new customers for Nissan dealerships.
The styling is similar to the Armada. Expect a wider Nissan-family V motion grille. The next-gen Pathfinder shares the same platform as the Altima, Maxima. Therefore, base models will use front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The interior spy photosshow major changes to the current Pathfinder. Not least, a large central touchscreen. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t like the idea of consolidating all information to the infotainment systems. There are still many buttons and a manual shift stalk.
On February 4, Nissan will reveal the 2022 Pathfinder and the new Frontier pickup. Follow the debuts at Motor1.com.
