It will be available for purchase in the coming year.
To evaluate the road behavior and engineering of the next-generation Range Rover, test drivers and engineers of Land Rover currently reside in the hottest European countries. One of the prototypes was captured by our spies. It appears that it was powered with a plug-in hybrid engine.
Two clear indicators indicate that this is a PHEV version the luxury SUV. The first is that the trial car comes with both a fuel cap as well as a charging port. This means you can recharge it either from your home or from a public station. The front window also has a sticker that says “Hybrid Electric Vehicle”.
The new Range Rover is based on the MLA platform and will be available with a variety of electrified and combustion engines. The smart new architecture will allow for all options to be equipped with electric support. All models can also be assembled on one line, thanks to this intelligent design.
It’s too early to know what the plug-in hybrid version will look like. The Range Rover PHEV PH400e currently has a combined output power of 398 horsepower (297 kilowatts), and a range of just 19 zero-emission kilometers (30 km) on a single charge. With the new model, both numbers will increase with a greater focus on the range between two charges.
The new Range Rover will be a very similar vehicle from the outside but it will have a more modern appearance. It also has a Range Rover Velar influence. The two versions of this premium SUV will be available in standard and long wheelbase, according to spy photos taken earlier this year. The development of a new Range Rover Sport is also underway. Official debut of the new RR is expected towards the end or early 2022.
