The 2022 Outback as well as the Legacy have new pricing and model changes. The most significant upgrade to these models is the introduction the rugged Outback Wilderness.
The Wilderness is available for purchase at $36,995 plus $1,125 destination. One package is available that includes a power moonroof and an 11.6-inch infotainment display. Reverse automatic braking is also included for $1,845. Deliveries begin this summer.
The Outback Wilderness, which is based on Onyx EditionXT, has a variety parts that allow for better off-roading. Redesigned suspension provides 9.5 inches of ground clearance instead of 8.7 inches as in the previous models. Redesigned front and rear bumpers are included, as well as a front skid plate. The 17-inch wheels are fitted with Yokohama Geolandar all terrain tires. Geyser Blue is an additional color option for this model. The steering wheel, gearshift and door panels are accented with Anodized Copper.
The Wilderness’s turbocharged, 2.4-liter boxer four cylinder produces 260 horsepower (194 Kilowatts) as well as 277 pound-feet (376 Newton meters). Subaru has changed the CVT’s final drive ratio from 4.11:1 to 4.44:1. Subaru’s dual-function, X-Mode system is included in the all-wheel drive system.
Subie also upgrades the 2022 Outback with LED fog lights as a standard feature. Premium Outback and Legacy models now have rear-facing ventilation vents in their center console. The Legacy Sport has blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, Moonroof and reverse automatic brake.
