It took a lot of engineering and custom bodywork to transform the T-Roc Cabrio from a compact SUV to a four-seater convertible. The T-Roc Cabrio has a coupe body, rather than the usual four-door SUV. This required new body panels. Every piece of sheet metal between the front wheels is new. To accommodate the new folding fabric roof, the T-Roc Cabrio has an extra-long wheelbase than the standard SUV.
The T-Roc Cabrio does not have a rear hatch. Instead, it has a smaller, traditional trunk with 284.0-liters. This is 161.0-liters less space than the regular T-Roc. This was necessary to accommodate the power-folding fabric roofing that takes up much of the truck’s space when closed.
American customers looking for a VW SUV convertible are out of luck. The T-Roc Cabrio and the T-Roc Cabrio were not designed for America. Perhaps a used Land Rover Evoque Cabrio might be the answer?
