It is more powerful than the V8 naturally aspirated.
It’s possible to argue that it’s more of a facelift for the aging LC200 than an entirely new model, as the exterior styling follows the evolutionary approach. The 2022 Land Cruiser was redesigned by moving to the TNGA platform, which will also serve as the foundation of the 2022 Tundra. The thirsty 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine is gone. It has been replaced by a twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6. It produces 409 horsepower (305 Kilowatts) as well as 479 pound-feet (475 Newton-meters). The V6 has almost 30 horsepower more than the V8 despite having only two cylinders. However, the pair turbos increase torque by nearly 80 lb-ft. Forcing induction allows for more power at low revs and better fuel economy.
Toyota’s Russian division has only announced this engine, however, in some regions of the world there may also be a twin-turbodiesel 3.3-liter. The engine is expected to produce 305 horsepower (227 kW), and 516 lbft (700 Nm), but it’s better to wait until some of the company’s regional branches confirm the specs of the new V6 oil burner. The new Land Cruiser’s gas engine is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h), which is quite respectable considering the SUV’s size and weight. Although fuel economy figures have not been released, a hypothetical US-spec model would certainly do better than the outgoing model’s EPA certified 14 MPG in the combined cycle.
The LC300’s off-road prowess has been improved by 32 degrees over its predecessor. Depending on the model, the departure angle can reach 26.5°. Ground clearance measures 230mi (9.05 inches). The Land Cruiser is standard equipped with four-wheel drive and three differential locks.
A adaptive variable suspension (AVS), as well as an electronic controlled kinetic dynamic suspension stability (E-KDSS), are also included in the list. Toyota has upgraded the next-gen Land Cruiser’s Multi-Terrain Select system. This system now includes Deep Snow and Auto modes. The Multi-Terrain Monitor system also incorporates an underbody cam. The vehicle’s speed is maintained while off-roading thanks to a revised Crawl Control system.
The interior was modified to accept a standard 9.3-inch touchscreen or an optional 12.3 inch screen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto integration, wireless charging, a 360 degree camera and a head up display will all be available to owners. An electricly adjustable steering wheel, an air ionizer and a fingerprint authentication system will all be included.
Toyota’s new Safety Sense array, which includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, has been installed in the 2022 Land Cruiser. We’ll be watching other Toyota regional divisions for more information than what the Russian-spec Land Cruiser gets. We will update this article as necessary and provide additional images if possible.
