2022 Toyota Tundra TRD pro Teased Inside Showing off-Road Goodies

The digital driver’s screen shows the truck’s side profile “inadvertently”.

The 2022 Tundra has been featured in an unprecedentedly long teaser video. Another official preview shows the rugged TRD Pro trim. Toyota takes us inside the new fullsize pickup in order to show off what technology off-road enthusiasts can use with the next generation model.

The buttons that surround the rotary dial are MTS (MultiTerrain Select), DDAC (Downhill Assistance Control), Crawl, Tow (it holds lower gears longer for greater pulling power), and the self explanatory Drive Mode. Toyota’s teaser video also shows the large wireless charging pad and the red perforated leather upholstery featuring “TRD Pro” stitching on its backrests.

Another reason the video is so interesting is that it briefly shows what appears to be the digital instrument cluster. Toyota wants us all to see what happens when DAC / Crawl activates. But if you look lower, you can almost see the 2022 Tundra side profile. To make it easier to see the truck’s silhouette in TRD Pro with its CrewMax body and bulging wheel arches, we took a screenshot.

2022 Toyota Tundra TRD pro Teased Inside Showing off-Road GoodiesAlthough technical specifications remain a mystery, we know that the new Ford F-150 rival will have an iForce Max engine. This is presumably the twin-turbo V6 of the Land Cruiser. The 3.5-liter engine produces 409 horsepower and 479 pound feet (650 Newton-meters), in the body-on frame SUV. The new Tundra will inherit the TNGA F platform and a 10-speed auto transmission. The new engine will combine more power and better fuel efficiency to replace the naturally-aspirated 5.7-liter V8.

Toyota has released teasers indicating that the 2022 Tundra will feature a striking front-end design as well as an electrically retractable back window. A wide touchscreen tablet-like touch screen will be integrated into the dashboard. Spy shots show that smaller versions of the touchscreen will be able to use the dashboard’s integrated infotainment system. It is flanked with air vents and neatly integrated into its dashboard.

One additional preview will be available in the near future, based on Toyota’s dedicated page for 2022 Tundra teasers. This could mean that the official reveal will take longer than expected, so these images along with our spy shots will suffice for now.
