2022 Toyota Tundra’s Rear Window Shows Power Slider In A New Teaser

This clever feature was retained.

Two months ago, Toyota teased its new Tundra. Yet, the pickup still holds the “coming soon”, status despite a huge leak. Another preview of the dual-pane panoramic sunroof has been released to ease the wait. The truck’s main feature is first highlighted in a video shared on social media. After that, the camera moves to confirm that one of its party pieces was retained.

The power sliding rear glass is the one we’re referring to. This feature has been available since the first generation of the double-cab body style, while the access cab had an automatic setup. It’s rare that vehicles today offer a moveable rear window and it’s great to see Toyota sticking with tradition by offering the dropdown window for the third-generation truck.

The latest teaser lets us take a look inside the cabin, which features red upholstery that is color-coordinated to the seatbelts. The teaser previously showed red accents reaching the 12 o’clock position on the steering wheel. A new, freestanding infotainment replaced the in-dash display.

Toyota announced that it would install a new iForce Max engine to replace the 5.7-liter V8. It could be the twin-turbo, 3.5-liter unit found in the latest Land Cruiser. This unit produces 409 horsepower (479 pound-feet) and 650 Newton-meters (650 Newton-meters). The new V6 is only compatible with a ten speed automatic transmission in the well-known off-roader.
