2022 Volkswagen Lamando L Debuts In China As Stylish Liftback

This is one of the most appealing VW models for years.

Ford’s new Mondeo was introduced in China yesterday. Now, another major automaker has presented a product that will be sold in the People’s Republic. The Lamando is a CN-spec Jetta that has been sold by the SAIC-VW joint venture. This compact sedan has been transformed into a more practical and attractive vehicle thanks to the sleek liftback that features matrix LED headlights, reminiscent of the ID. electric models.

The Lamando L is the same as the larger Arteon and Passat. The car measures 4,784 millimeters (188 in) long, 1,831 (72 in) wide and 1,469 (57.8in) high. It also has a wider wheelbase of 2,731 mm (107.5in). It is still smaller than the Arteon in all dimensions, despite its larger footprint.

The MQB platform is the base of the regular sedan. However, the MQB Evo architecture was introduced by VW Group in 2019. This new architecture will be used for the latest Golf, Octavia and Leon models. It also includes frameless windows. The Lamando L receives a multi-link setup, even though the smaller-powered compact cars sold in Europe by the German conglomerate have a torsion beam rear suspension.

This sleek, devilish-looking liftback rides on 18 inch wheels. It is the latest model to use LED light bars at the rear and front. The VW logo is illuminated in white at its front and red at the rear. This might be a nod to the Arteon-rival Peugeot 508. It’s one of our favorite designs in years for the VW core brand.

The cabin design emits a strong golf Mk8 vibe. However, there are some tweaks to the central air vents, and very few buttons. The Lamando L is well equipped with a Beats soundsystem, sunroof and shift-by-wire DSG switch. It also has electric front seats and adaptive cruise control. There are two air vents in the back. Also, there is a central armrest that has two cupholders and a pair USB ports.

The 1.4-liter TSI engine produces 150 hp and 250 Newton meters (183 pound-feet). It is connected to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. The 2022 VW Lamando L can reach 62 mph (100 km/h), from a standstill, in just eight and a quarter seconds. This isn’t a great speed, but it’s not bad either. The car could get a more powerful 2.0 TSI later in its lifecycle.

VW-SAIC will be selling the car in China this spring. You can also still purchase the standard Lamando.
