Starting in 2022, “Fewer Than 450” will begin to be built for the US market.
Volvois a new automaker that has gone dark. This means they have a special edition model with all sorts of black trim. The brand from Sweden doesn’t mince words and calls its darkened sedan the S60 Black Edition. It’s simple name, simple upgrades. Hard to fault that.
The S60 Black Edition has a lot of black trim, as the name implies. It starts with the grille surround, and ends with the Volvo badge in the middle. The side view will show black trim on the windows and side mirrors. But the main update is the wheels. Black Edition receives a set of 19-inchers in a gloss black finish. There’s also more black trim at back with Volvo lettering on decklid. This model has blacked-out exhaust tips.
Volvo does not mention any interior updates, but the S60 Black Edition comes in only two exterior colors. The contrast between the black trim and crystal metallic is striking. For those who want the most dark Volvo ever, Onyx Black Metallic gives you a monochrome look. The Black Edition is an appearance package. All mechanicals remain unchanged. It features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with some electric power. This can produce up to 415 horsepower (309kilowatts) in the range-topping, PHEV trim. Eric Beak (VOLVO USA head of design), stated that the S60 Black Edition design elicits a passionate reaction across the company. “We are proud that the Black Edition was designed in the USA and will be built in South Carolina by our US team.” You can guess that the S60 Black Edition will only be available in the US based on this quote. Volvo promises to make “less than 450” of the S60 Black Edition for the 2022 model-year.
