Next year will see the final A4 wagon with combustion engine. It might look something like this.

It’s refreshing to see a new wagon, with every vehicle being a crossover. Audi has already been seen testing the next-generation A4 Avant several times, and this rendering attempts to digitally remove the camouflage. The BMW 3 Series Touring will have a smaller front grille and slimmer headlights, contrary to design trends.

Ingolstadt style, the Four Rings will not be breaking the mold in terms of design. This is something that we cannot say about the archrival BMW. Our spy saw the prototypes without the final taillights. However, a protrusion at the tailgate led to the conclusion that the prototypes did have a wider light bar than the current Audis. Although the interior is not shown in the design exercise, we know that the MMI infotainment system will be seamlessly integrated into the center console.

The German luxury brand, A4, has already revealed that the new A4 will bring the final generation of gasoline and diesel engine. The new A4 will be based on the MLB platform, and will use a mild-hybrid 48V system to reduce fuel consumption. The possibility of a plug-in hybrid powered by a large battery is possible. A similar electric model could also be in the works, but it will likely use the same PPE architecture.

This will be the last long-roof A4 equipped with gasoline/diesel engine and it’ll be the company’s final wagon to use ICE power. When the next A6 Avant arrives, we expect it to be the end of the era for combustion-engined wagons. Both the A4 & A6 will continue to use traditional engines through the end of this decade.

Audi will release its last car with combustion engines in 2025, as previously reported. All new Audi cars will be pure EVs starting in 2026. Production of ICE-powered vehicles will cease in 2032. China may still offer old-school drivetrains if there is enough demand.
