It will debut in the next year.
Audi will introduce a new all electric crossover to its lineup, the Q6 Etron. It will be placed between the Q4 E-Tron SUV and the larger E-Tron SUV. The platform is shared with the all-electric Porsche Macan, which is also in development. Audi’s Q6 E-Tron was last seen in March. A new set of spy photos confirms that the development is continuing, but very little has changed.
The crossover still wears tight-fitting camouflage, which is unable to conceal its traditional-looking shape. The lower bumper grille looks just as naked as ever. At the rear, stand-in taillights are still in place. The fenders have a strip of gray sheet metal visible, which is a strange area to leave unattended. The crossover will adapt the styling of E-Tron’s larger vehicle to the smaller one, with a wider grille, slimmer headlights and angular accents.
The Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which Audi and Porsche are developing together, is a platform for Q6 Etron’s platform. It’s distinct from the platform that underpins the brand’s other electric vehicles. The J1 is the basis of the new architecture. This J1 was shared by Audi and Porsche for the Etron GT and Taycan sedans. The new PPE platform will offer rear-wheel drive as standard. This is in addition to what is available with the single-motor model. An Audi trademark, a dual-motor variant will provide all-wheel drive.
In its high-performance RS trim, the Q6 E-Tron should produce around 590 horsepower (439 kilowatts). On Europe’s generous WLTP test cycle, the crossover should be able to travel more than 500 km (310 miles) in its high-performance RS trim. Audi’s latest charging technology will also be available, with fast charging up to 350-kilowatts.
Audi Q6 E-Tron is expected to arrive in 2023, but we are still months away from the announcement. The cover for both the Macan and Q6 is expected to be revealed next year . However, neither automaker has yet set a date.
