Although it is missing the last taillights, their shapes are visible.

It is not an easy task to master Audi’s SUV range, but it is something that must be done. It has seen a lot of growth in recent years and will continue to expand with fully electric models. China will get a Q5 E–Tron, which will be a more expensive Volkswagen ID.6 built on the MEB platform. The rest of the world will get the Q6 E–Tron twinned to the next-generation, electric-only Porsche Macan.

The Q6 E-Tron was one of the first vehicles to ride on the PPE platform, which Audi and Porsche developed. This is ahead of next year’s unveiling. The dedicated electric SUV is expected to be manufactured at Ingolstadt. You can see it here with its full production body, but without the final taillights. The provisional clusters reveal the production-ready form, but it appears that the camouflage conceals a possible LED lightbar stretching across the entire length of the tailgate. Although it will technically fit underneath the larger ETron, Audi’s electric SUV portfolio includes the Q6 ETron. However, its bespoke EV platform could make the interior of the Q6 ETron more spacious. The E-Tron, launched in 2018, is an electric version of the MLB Evo platform. This platform was originally designed for combustion-engined models such as the Q7, Bentayga and Urus.

The generous wheelbase and vehicle’s length already give us an idea of the interior space of the Q6 E-Tron. As with all dedicated EVs, the overhangs are shorter than others. This should result in more legroom. The cabin will be much larger than the Q4 ETron. Although the prototype is completely camouflaged, it’s clear that the Q6 E-Tron will not be a bold design statement. Although it is better to wait until the disguise comes off before judging the SUV’s design, we don’t expect the new zero emission model to be any different from the Q4 E-Tron. The Q6 E-Tron is a PPE product. This means that it will be more advanced than the MEB-based electric vehicle SUV. Four Rings previously confirmed that PPE-based EVs would have air suspension, torque vectoring and all-wheel steering. While it remains to be determined how many of these features will be adopted by the upcoming EVs, it is worth noting that PPE models will have more range than 300 miles and support 350-kW charging.

The A6E-Tron will also be PPE-based and will debut in production in the next years. This electric Sportback will complement the A6 Sedan. The last generation of both the gas- and diesel-powered model will remain on the market until the end. At that point, the EV will take its place in Audi’s complex lineup.
