With launch control, the BMW EV can reach 60 in just 3.6 seconds.
The BMW iX electric crossover is already a strong and well-built vehicle. It also has one of the most luxurious interiors outside of Rolls-Royce. is my favorite car in 2021. BMW has unveiled the 2023 BMW iX M60 electric crossover, its first M-branded crossover.
Two electric motors and a 11.5-kilowatt hour battery pack power the iX M60. This allows for a total output of up to 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts), and 811 pound feet (1,100 newton meters) in short bursts. Launch control and Sport mode are both active. The iX M60’s Normal driving mode loses power, but it still delivers a strong 532 hp (391 kW), and 749 lb (1,015 nm).
These figures are an increase of 16 hp, 185 lbft and 94 hp over the xDrive50 (the base trim in the US) or up to 94 hp with Sport mode and Launch Control activated. The iX M60 can sprint up to 60 mph (98 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds. It has a electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
The iX M60 has an adaptive air suspension that is electronically controlled and features rear-wheel steering. This improves handling. These features are available as an option on the xDrive50 model, and can be purchased in the Sport package. Standard are also larger M Performance brakes in a handsome blue finish with M logos.
With the 21-inch base wheels, the iX M60 can cover 280 miles (450 km) in a single charge. This compares to the estimated 300-plus mile (483 km) range for the base xDrive50. The iXM60 takes just 36 minutes to recharge to 80 percent using a DC fast charger station, which has a maximum charge rate of 250 kilowatts.
Visual differences between the xDrive50 and M60 models are subtle. The exterior features individual Titanium Bronze accents. M logos are finished in a new High Gloss Black with a Titanium Bronze finish at the rear. Customers can choose to have 22-inch aerodynamic wheels fitted with matching Titanium Bronze designs, while standard 21-inch shoes will be available. There are seven exterior colors available: Alpine White (Dark Graphite), Blue Ridge Mountain (Storm Bay), Oxide Grey (and Aventurin Red).
The cabin has minor changes, with the iX M60 using the same BMW Live Cockpit that the standard iX. The setup features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a central touchscreen and 14.9-inch main touchscreen. The cabin features nearly all the same high-end features, including brushed aluminum accents, crystal fixtures like the shift knob, iDrive controller, and shift knob. You have the option of SensaTec faux leather, or real perforated Cowhide. You can choose from five color options: Oyster (Mocha), Black, Amido and Castanea Cherry.
Active safety equipment such as adaptive cruise control and automatic high beam assist are standard. Parking Assistant Plus automatically parks your car without any interference from the driver. You also get wireless phone charging, a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and a Bowers And Wilkins Premium Sound System.
The 2023 BMW iX M60 will arrive in the US in June. It will retail at $106,095 plus $995 handling and destination fees. The base xDrive50 model is $84,195, with $995 destination fees.
