The M2 will get Individual colors for the first time.
Although the standard 2 Series Coupe is not yet revealed in next-generation, we have seen spy shots of the M2. A new report by BMWBLOG will shed light on the evolution of the M2 coupe for the G87 model, which is expected to debut in 2020.
Most likely the last (relatively)Small M car to avoid electrificationM4 Competition, CS and possibly a CSL variant will follow the base model. The performance coupe boasts 450 horsepower and just over 400 pound-feet (54 Newton-meters) torque in its standard configuration.
BMW will keep the manual transmission in the M2 and offer the clutch pedal along with an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. This is to please both sides. The report does not mention that the coupe will likely be larger and heavier than the M4. For better handling, a carbon fiber roof can offset some weight gain and lower the center gravity.
Customers will be able to choose from a range of alloy wheels in 19- or 20-inch sizes, according to the same report. For those who want to customize their vehicle, the M2 will be available in a variety of colors. This is an option for customers who don’t have the budget for larger and more expensive models.
BMW will also make some significant changes to its production process. The Euro-spec M2 will now be made at the Leipzig factory in Germany, while the North American version will be assembled at the San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico. It has a production capacity up to 175,000 vehicles annually and is operational since 2019.
The new M2 will go into production in December 2022. It will be the successor to the previously teased regular 2 Series Coupe, which debuts in just a few short weeks.
