Wow, how big are your air intakes?
BMW will blow the 50 th candle off the M division’s anniversary cake this year. Bavaria’s go faster division will have a busy 2022, when it will reveal the production-ready XM and M3 touring as well as the M4 CSL. The new M3-touring-snow-drift/bmw-m3-touring/ is also being released in the next 12 months. This is the M2, also known as “G87” by BMW enthusiasts.
Although we’ve seen many images of the Bavarian sports coupe before, this one is our favorite. The new M2 was close to our eyes, and we were able capture the prototype in thinner camouflage. The exposed grille on the front confirms that BMW will not be reducing the size of its kidneys. The radar sensor located below the license plate, which is flanked by two small-ish intakes of air, further confirms that the grille will not be extended as far as it does on larger-brother HTML4.
The HTML240i was positioned above it. This tiny fully-fledged M car showed off both its large and square air intakes in the front bumper and the quad exhausts at back. Although the trunk lid spoiler isn’t as large as the one on the M Performance model it will be available in a range of M Performance Parts.
The front axle, where the blue brakes are visible more clearly, was on 19-inch wheels that measured 275/35R19. The M240i had slightly wider wheel arches and seemed to be closer to the road than the M240i. This indicates that it has a stiffer suspension to improve handling.
The M4 is available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. However, BMW’s latest information suggests that the M2 will only be sold with a tail-happy layout. There are both manual and automatic transmissions, as well as a base output of approximately 400 horsepower and a powerful Competition model that produces around 430 hp. The S58 engine in the M4 will provide the motivation, but it has been lowered to keep the older brother from being too much.
The M2 is expected to be revealed this summer. Hotter derivatives such as a CS, or even a CSL are also possible.
