BMW is planning a busy year in 2022 with product launches. The Bavarian brand is doing everything possible to celebrate 50 years of the M division. Motorsport is also very active. It has taken the wraps off M4 GT4, and previewed the Le Mans Daytona (LMDh), prototype. The race car now has its second generation and borrows the lightweight roof & rear wing from the GT3-spec model.

This track-only car looks great standing still thanks to a complete aero kit that includes a huge front splitter that can double as a snowplow. The M4’s muscular front canards, side skirts, and sloping cabin are a warning sign that this isn’t your average M4.

The 2023 M4 GT4 is a race car but it still offers many amenities that you might not expect. The air conditioning, heated windscreen and ventilated Recaro seats are just a few of the standard features. Natural fibers are used in some interior and exterior parts. Fanatec, sim racing hardware specialists, also created the illuminated steering wheel.

The inline-six engine produces 550 horsepower and 479 pounds-feet (650 Newton meters) of torque, depending on the regulations. The engine’s output is channeled to its rear axle via a ZF seven speed automatic transmission and an LSD. The M4 GT4 is highly configurable and features a 10-step traction control, three H&R spring rate options, and five levels of anti-roll bar adjustability.

The new race car is compatible with all GT4 racing series worldwide and will be available for purchase in October. Teams can pay a net price EUR187,000. The M4 GT3 is priced at EUR415,000. These M4s sit between the entry-level CS Racing model and the LMDh, which is part of BMW Motorsport’s lineup.
