Chevy wants you to experience the Z06 in all its glory.
The anticipation for the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is growing. We have seen many videos, and the wilder C8 could not come soon enough in the flesh. Chevy is adding to the excitement by sharing a Corvette Academy video that focuses on the exhaust note, which is one of the most talked about aspects of the Z06.
This video is embedded at the top of this page and explains the science behind Corvette Z06’s magnificent exhaust note, as heard at recently concluded 106th Indianapolis 500. Although it’s not rocket science, it’s still quite amazing.
Chevy says it wants Corvette C8 Z06 owners the experience of driving an exotic car. This is based on the sensations they get and the sounds they hear. The Z06’s exhaust is inserted into the tips at the center ( not available in the US). These tips or the bezels are part of the rear fascia and reflect sound back to the cockpit.
The Z06’s flat-plane crankshaft V8 engine is noteworthy. Chevy says it is something Chevy has never seen in any other engine.
Chevy also explained that there are two types of valves that can change the exhaust note depending upon usage: the variable exhaust valves and the intake manifold valves. These gates can adjust the exhaust note in increments of 2 degrees. This translates to four modes for Z06. The previous setup was simply open and close.
There are four types of exhaust: Weather, Track, Sport, or Sport. Weather is the most quiet of the four. This means that your neighbors will still love and respect you. Tour is a little louder than Weather and Sport is even more agitating. Track mode allows for maximum audio pleasure so the driver can enjoy the Corvette Z06 to its full potential.
We’re sure that aspiring owners are anxious about their future supercar, as the Corvette configurator doesn’t yet show the Z06.
