This weekend, the official pace car for the 106th Indy 500 is ready for action.
In just a few hours, the 106th Indianapolis 500 will take place. As we all know the official pace car for the race is the 2023 Chevy Corvette 70th Anniversary Edition. You’ll be able to witness the Z06 being put through its paces by the sporting event if you are among the people who attend it.
If you are reading this story at home, Byron Glover Jr. ( Drive 615) and Chevrolet have provided us with a video of the Corvette Z06 as it laps the speedway. For a better viewing experience, make sure you have the best headphones.
Glover’s ride-along video shows the pure excitement of Glover riding in the Z06. He is, however, sitting in the passenger’s chair. You could still hear the V8 flat-plane crank engine’s ominous exhaust note from his location, and we can only imagine how crazy it must have been in real life.
The Corvette Z06 could be seen traveling 163 miles an hour (or 262 km per hour) during the ride-along. It sounds insane, just like the fly-by segments in both videos.
The pace car is dressed in the Corvette Z06 70th anniversary Edition and comes with the Z07 performance package. It also wears a White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat. The wheels are also fitted with anniversary center caps and red rims.
Today, May 29, 2022 is the day of the 2022 Indianapolis 500. It will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race starts at 12:30 p.m. ET.
