2023 Ford E-Transit Custom Revealed with Up To 236 MPG

2023 Ford E-Transit Custom Revealed With Up To 236 Miles Of Range

Turkey’s production will begin next year.

Ford Pro, Blue Oval’s commercial arm, was founded in 2021. It first teased its new electric workhorse during the second half April. Most of us thought the LED light bar was a Tourneo Custom with no combustion engine at that time. This is not true as the E-Transit Custom is actually the EV in question, which fits below the larger E-Transit.

The biggest changes to the ICE-powered Transit Custom front have been made where the E-Transit Custom receives a shiny grille and fully redesigned LED headslights. On the right side of bumper is the charging port. The “E” badge is on the left. The rear is where the “E Transit”, and “Custom” badges have been blacked out, the new graphics on the headlights have been mirrored.

Ford is still a bit vague about the technical details, but Ford only stated that the E-Transit Custom can cover 380 km (236 miles) without additional charges. The range number is not final. It was based on Ford’s estimate based upon the WLTP cycle. It is not yet clear if it will use the same 68-kWh lithium-ion battery pack as the ETransit. It supports DC fast charging. This is 115 kW in the case of its larger brother.

Further details will be available in September. Autocar reports that Ford Pro plans on selling the E-Transit Custom equipped with the same 181- or 265-horsepower electrical motors as the E-Transit. They are located at the rear axle, and produce a torque of 318 pound feet (431 Newton-meters). This should result in a run of 0-60 mph (100 km/h), which takes less than seven seconds, and a top speed of 85 mph (135 km/h).

According to British magazine, E-Transit Custom will be the next Ford dealer to receive the SYNC 4 infotainment software. The 12-inch screen is meant to mirror the larger electric van. The vehicle-to-load charging capability of up to 2.3kW will allow the battery pack to double as an energy source for external devices.

It’s not being disclosed today that the E-Transit Custom will be produced until 2023. The assembly will be done at the Ford Otosan plant in Kocaeli (Turkey), where a next-generation all-electric Volkswagen Transporter will also go into production. This is the second of five EVs manufactured by Ford Pro that will be available in Europe by 2024.
