It is unlikely that it will come to America.
Ford offers a range of utility products that are available for global markets. Some of these products are not available in the United States. Ford’s new Ranger, which was confirmed for an American launch, and the Everest are two of those high-riding Fords that are missing in North America. While we will eventually get the former, it is unlikely that the latter will be available in the US. However, an Everest prototype is being tested by Ford here at the moment.
TFLnow went prototyping hunting earlier this week. They found a Ford SUV fully camouflaged next to three Ranger trucks. The SUV prototype is clearly the new Everest, which made its full-scale and official debut in March. Although this is a pleasant surprise, it doesn’t mean that the Everest will ever be available in the US.
Why? The reason? The most important news is that Ford has already begun testing the new Ranger in America, meaning that a debut and launch for the truck will likely be sooner than expected.
The truck-based family hauler, the Everest was launched in the Land Down Under this year with wider tracks and an SYNC4 informationtainment system. There is a base 2.0-liter diesel engine with either one or two turbochargers, and a 2.3 liter EcoBoost gas-unit. A 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine is the top-of-the-line option. It can be fitted with either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed auto, depending on which engine it is.
This summer, the new Everest will be available in Australia with three trim levels. Despite this surprising encounter, it is unlikely that the new Everest will be made available in America. We can only hope for a new debut by the next-gen Ranger in America.
