It has a longer wheelbase, which could make it unique to the US market.

The new Ford Ranger is technically still not available for American buyers. We know what the new Ford Ranger midsize truck will look like. Its global debut was November 2021. We know the basic stats. However, powertrain options will vary between markets. We now see that Ford customers in North America may have another option, as bigger is usually better.

These spy images clearly reveal a stretched Ranger. The reason the wheelbase is longer than the SuperCrew model is simple. The truck combines the SuperCrew truck’s larger cabin with the 6-foot longer bed. This is a rare pairing, as the longer bed can only be purchased with the SuperCab greenhouse. SuperCrew trucks receive a 5-foot bed.

According to our spy sources, this option will only be available in North America. There are two good reasons for this, the first being that big trucks are very popular in the region. People who haul stuff regularly will find the six-foot bed appealing. Five adults can fit in the interior, which is an added bonus. We haven’t seen such a combination on any Rangers in other markets.

A larger Ranger could have an impact on F150sales. Ford’s full-size pickup can be hampered by a larger cabin and a longer bed, but it is only the smaller side. The F-150 SuperCrew comes with a larger 6.5-foot bed. A SuperCab has an 8-foot bed.

What other features can be found in the Ford Ranger US-spec? The global Ford Ranger offers a digital cockpit with digital gauges, a 10.1-inch and a 12-inch central infotainment screen. It’s not likely that Ford will make any changes to the interior. However, it is unlikely that we will see other turbocharged diesel engines. A turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder should be back, while a boosted V6 may be an option. Already confirmed the Ranger Raptor for the US market. It will likely be powered by the 400-hp twin turbocharged 3.0-liter engine of the Ford Explorer ST.

Although the Ranger Raptor will be available for purchase in 2023, North American sales of the standard model must take place before then. This should occur later in the year.
