High-riding Rangers can be hot-weather tested.
In recent months, we’ve seen Ford Ranger Raptor prototypes out on the streets but not many of the next-generation Rangertest cars. Today, however, that all changed when spy teams across the pond spotted a pair 2023 Rangers basking in the southern European sun. Camouflage can still be heavy but the photos allow us to zoom in for a closer look. These two crew cab trucks are distinguished by yellow stickers on their windshields which usually signify electrified prototypes. Ford has confirmed that every European model will include a plug in hybrid option by 2024. We have heard reliable rumors that the Ranger will be a combination of a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor. This will produce a total of 362 horsepower (270 Kilowatts) as well as 502 pound-feet (680 Newton meters) of torque.
These PHEV prototypes will not be limited to street trucks, as the power isn’t restricted to them. The pickups aren’t equipped with the same meaty tires or dual exhaust outlets as Raptor prototypes. However, they ride tall and have camouflage hanging from the rear axle. This usually indicates that upgraded suspension components are hidden underneath. Closeups of the front show that the F150 will influence the styling of the next Ranger. Nevertheless, the Ford Maverick has been revealed and we can see similarities to the Ranger’s headlights. A mid-size pickup truck can enjoy a combination of Ford’s largest and smallest trucks. The Ranger should also have its own unique face, rather than looking like a smaller F-150.According to our sources, the new Ranger will be available as a 2023 model sometime in the first year of next year.
