The Civic’s modular architecture and powertrain are all part of the new HRV.
Although the Honda HR-V shares two-thirds its initials with Honda CR-V’s iconic Honda CR-V, the Honda HR-V was able to attract a mere tenth as much attention when it arrived in North America in 2016. The Honda HR-V 2023 – the second generation of the New World Honda Civic – combines the Civic’s mature styling with modern interior tech with a spacious cockpit and an all-wheel drive option to challenge the popular CR-V.
was introduced a few months after its global counterpart. It’s difficult to separate the and the civic. Both cars share a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with continuously variable transmission and multi-link rear suspension. However, the ride heights of the two cars are different.
The engine produces 158 horsepower and 138 pounds-feet, respectively, which is 17 and 11 respectively more than the current HRV. Keep your eyes peeled for an HTML-V with the Civic’s turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. The Honda promises better drivability than the HR-V’s predecessor due to its stiffer chassis and modern suspension arrangements.
The Civic’s Lessons: Applied
Honda’s major step forward in car tech began with the Civic. It is now expanding to the HR-V. Both infotainment systems have redundant physical buttons just like the Civic. They also include knobs for volume, station tuning, and other functions.
Although it’s difficult to recall, the original HRV was launched years before Honda Sensing was a popular thing. Even in its final years, the first-gen CUV lacked traffic jam assist and street signs recognition. These shortcomings are rectified by the 2023 HRV, which includes Honda’s active safety suite. It also features upgraded software that produces more realistic behavior for adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, and other systems. Honda Sensing is available on all three trims of the HRV, unlike the current model, which limits the features to the top half of the trim walks.
There is so much space for activities
The HR-V’s growth is equally important. The wheelbase of 104.5 inches is 1.7 inches wider and the front track and rear track have grown 2.0 and 2.5 inches respectively. The HR-V measures 9.4 inches and 2.6 inches respectively, compared to the current model. The HR-V’s larger footprint results in a more spacious cabin. Honda promises more legroom for the rear, but it isn’t going to give details about how spacious the interior is. However, the company shared cargo measurements. The HR-V’s trunk measures 24.4 cubic feet. This expands to 55.1 cubes when the 60/40 second row is folded flat.
The base 2023 Honda Honda HR-V LX starts at $24,895, which includes a $1,245 delivery charge. The mid-range Sport costs $26,895 while the top-end EXL-L is $28,695. All-wheel drive can be purchased on all three trims for $1,500. Although the HR-V is more expensive at the bottom, the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Kona and Kia Seltos all start below $23,000. However, its price delta is lower than that of the competition. Only the Chevy offers a range-topping model for a fraction of the price of the HR-V EX–L. The price of the rest of the class is just a few hundred dollars less than the Honda’s top-of the-line model.
