Expect the Prophecy concept to be more beautiful than the real thing.

The Prophecy concept was introduced by Hyundai in March 2020. This was when it announced its intention to develop a Tesla Model 3 competitor. Although the electric sedan looked a lot like a four-door Porsche 911 EV EV, spy photos of prototypes showed major design changes. The latest teaser image for the production car is from South Korea. It shows the zero-emissions saloon with a sketch that seems too good to be true.

Additional teasers will show the so-called “electrified streamer” in the coming days. Full details of the interior as well as exterior will be revealed by the end the month. Technical specifications will not be revealed until July, possibly at Busan Motor Show.

It’s worth noting that the BMW i4 rival will use the same E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 5 crossover SUV and the larger Ioniq 7, three-row SUV by the end 2023. According to reports, the car was not developed without problems as engineers made significant changes throughout the process. Production-ready Ioniq 6 will be two centimeters (0.8 in) longer than originally planned. It will also have redesigned bumpers to increase aero.

The zero-emissions sedan will also use a larger 77.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It will also have a more sleek infotainment system than the Ioniq5, which has slimmer bezels. The range-topping model will likely have two electric motors, enabling all-wheel drive and slightly more than 300 horsepower. Hyundai is currently working on an Ioniq 5 crossover. However, it is too early to know if the Ioniq 6 will receive the N treatment. The Kia E-GMP platform can produce 576 horsepower in the EV6 GT .

The other end of the lineup should have a single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant that produces less than 200 horsepower, considering that the base Ioniq 5 can only manage 168 hp. Hyundai has made a lot of the sedan’s shape. This will likely mean that the Ioniq 5 will have lower drag coefficients to allow for better range. It is possible to drive more than 300 miles without charges, considering that the crossover can travel 303 miles per EPA.

Pricing is not too different from the Ioniq 5’s. It starts at $39,950 and goes up to $51,100 for Limited models. Given its numerically superior position to the crossover, we won’t be surprised if Ioniq 6 is a little more expensive.
