It will be slightly larger than the current model.
Although we don’t have a detailed idea of Hyundai’s future model roadmap, we do know that the South Korean automaker has already begun work on the next-generation Kona. The crossover will likely undergo a complete redesign, with increased exterior and interior dimensions. A formal debut is expected before the end of the year. We will need to wait at most a few months to see the crossover in its full glory. However, a new rendering gives us a glimpse of some design changes.
Motor.es, our friends and colleagues, were kind enough to share the exclusive digital drawing of next-generation Kona. Based on recent spy photos, this rendering shows the model growing slightly. This rendering reflects this transformation and, overall, the Kona model looks more mature than its predecessor. It shouldn’t surprise you that Hyundai also sells the Bayon across Europe. This is the most affordable Hyundai crossover. Hyundai will give the Kona a sleeker exterior and a more luxurious interior to differentiate it from the other models. Although the Kona 2023 will not feature premium features, it is likely to include many extras that aren’t on the list for the current model.
There won’t be any major changes in the engine department. The Kona will continue to offer combustion engines, as well as a turbocharged gas engine of 1.6-liter. Although the future of the Kona N (the most powerful member in the Kona family) has not been confirmed, we believe it will survive another generation. The Kona Electric is also slated for a complete redesign, which could bring a more efficient electric motor with a wider range of charges. Hyundai has not yet provided any information regarding the launch date for the new Kona. The automaker is testing prototypes in thick camouflage. This suggests that the big debut won’t take place before the third quarter. The availability of the Kona in the United States is unknown.
