It will likely get a Tucson-inspired look.

The Hyundai Palisade, which sold 86,539 units last year, was one of the most popular models in America. The automaker is looking to continue the momentum by introducing a facelift to the large family SUV. The development is ongoing. Our spy photographers sent us new photos showing the progress so far .

This prototype is heavily camouflaged and was found testing on public roads in Sweden, where there is still snow. The front fascia is covered in a lot of concealment. This is the area where the most visual changes will focus. We can see the entire Palisade from the front but it is completely obscured by the cloth. However, we know that Hyundai will likely update the Palisade with an Tucson-inspired design.

As you can see the headlights have been redesigned, and there will also be a prominent radiator grille. According to Hyundai, the designers will be extending the headlights so that they meet the grille in order to match the new Tucson. The set of 20-inch wheels may look familiar, as it is standard equipment on the Palisade Calligraphy. This means that we are probably looking at Hyundai’s three-row family SUV.

There have been rumors that the Palisade might get an additional set of taillights on its tailgate. However, we are unable to confirm this at the moment. Based on the amount of effort the manufacturer put into covering the vehicle, we believe that the bumper could also be modified.

A 3.8-liter Atkinson cycle V6 is the only engine available for Palisade North America. Although nothing is certain, Hyundai has not yet confirmed that it will be able to add a new plug in hybrid powertrain. The only option will be an eight-speed automatic, and the V6 gasoline engine will likely remain unchanged.
