This quirky hatch is now available in two-tone paint.
Some models were stripped of some extras when Kia introduced its 2021 Soul. The 2022MY came along and removed the manual gearbox. The 2023MY has arrived and also removes some content. This is primarily due to the engine’s more powerful. Customers will no longer be able to choose the Turbo model, which is the 201-horsepower, 1.5-liter gasoline engine with forced induction.
The 2.0-liter, 147-hp naturally aspirated engine will continue to power the Soul. It sends 132 lbft of torque directly to the front wheels via an automated transmission. The 2023MY will also see the end of the somewhat rough X-Line trim, which was introduced with the vehicle’s third generation in 2020MY. The Soul EV was originally promised for the United States, but it was delayed and eventually canceled.
The 2023MY is not all bad, however. It also has some new features. The front grille has been updated and the fog lights have been changed. Kia will also give the Soul new turn signals and daytime running lights, as well as some minor tweaks to the rear. Customers have the option of choosing from new 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Additional two-tone paints, such as Clear White or Surf Blue, are now available for the new model year. They can also be combined with a Fusion Black roofing. The interior has not changed much, however all trims except the base LX receive a 10.25 inch touchscreen with navigation. The LX Technology Package, which bundles safety tech such as Rear Cross Collision Avoidance (Blind Spot Collision Avoidance) and Rear Cross Collision Avoidance (Rear Cross Collision Avoidance) with 16-inch wheels, is new for 2023.
You could also opt for the GT-Line Technology Package, which includes Harman Kardon sound, heated front seats and an electric parking brake. This optional pack includes LED headlights, taillights, a cargo cover, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It also adds Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Junction Turning capabilities.
These items were previously offered as an optional equipment. They now come standard in the 2023 Kia Soul range which includes the LX and S models, as well as the EX, , and GT-Line Tech.

Even though the Soul has not been receiving a lot attention in the media lately, Kia reminds us of the fact that Soul sales increased by almost five percent to more than 75,000 units in 2021.
