For the new model year, the Soul will lose the Turbo and X-Line trims.

In May, Kia revealed the simplified lineup of the Soul for the 2023 model-year. The rejiggered model was not priced at that time. Today, we have this information. The 2023 Kia Soul will be priced at $21,085 (all prices exclude the $1,295 Destination Charge unless noted).

The 2023 Soul is available in four trims: LX, S and GT-Line. The S is an upgrade to the LX and starts at $23,585. To start at $25,685, the GT-Line trim requires a $1100 premium over S. The highest-end EX trim starts at $25,385.

The LX price will increase by $600 over 2022 Soul LX. Kia’s destination fee will rise by $50 to $1,175. The entry-level Soul with manual cost $17,490 in 2021. This includes the $1,120 destination fee. For a total price of $18,610, the Soul with manual cost $18,610.

Kia’s increasing price tag coincided closely with the automaker eliminating options and features. The Soul was stripped of some colors in 2021. Kia also made changes to the content offerings for each trim. The Kia model year following saw the removal of the manual gearbox, thereby instantly increasing the entry-level pricing.

The Kia Soul is now in its third generation. The current model was first put on sale in 2020. Since 2015, Soul sales have been steadily declining and have not recovered. Although sales were up a little in 2021, that increase isn’t continuing into 2022. Kia sold 75,000 Souls by 2021 and just over 22,500 in 2022.

In mid- to late summer, the updated 2023 Soul lineup will be available for purchase. Kia has not yet provided a date for when the updated 2023 Soul lineup will be available at dealers. The 2023 Soul lineup will drop the X-Line trim s and the Turbo trim s. However, Kia has spread their features among all trims. The 2023 Soul will be equipped with a 2.0-liter four cylinder that produces 147 horsepower (109 milliwatts) as well as 132 pound-feet (278 newton-meters), of torque.
