Kia combines a turbocharged, 1.6-liter four cylinder with a 44-kilowatt motor. The engine is powered by a 1.5-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery. The combined output of the two engines is 226 horsepower (166kilowatts), which is a significant increase over Sportage’s base model. From its 2.5-liter four cylinder, it produces 187 horsepower (138 kW) as well as 178 poundfeet (242 Newton meters) of torque.

The hybrid powertrain, according to Kia, will enable the Sportsage to travel more than 500 miles (800 km) with a single tank. According to the company, the crossover will achieve a fuel economy of up to 39 MPG. The crossover can also tow up 2,000 pounds (907 kg).

The Sportage Hybrid looks much the same as its non-hybrid sibling on the inside. It features a 12.3 inch infotainment screen next to a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster. Standard features include Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Eight active safety features are standard on the Sportage, including high-beam assistance, emergency braking and lane-keep aid with lane centering.

Right now, the Kia Sportage non-hybrid is on sale. The Sportage Hybrid will go on sale in spring. Spring started a few weeks back so the new, stylish crossover should be available to dealers soon. The new Sportsage will be available with a plug in hybrid powertrain. The company has not yet released pricing information.
