Since 2016, the current model is on sale
The RX is currently Lexus’ best-selling model in America and the Japanese automaker understands how crucial it is to its overall market performance. The current generation model was launched in 2015 and has been available in America since 2016. The final version of the SUV’s new generation is in development. It will debut on May 31.
The first teaser photo of the 2023 RX has been released by the automaker. It shows a small portion of the model’s front fascia. We see an evolution in the design of the spindle grille, which has a closed-off portion at the top. The new RX will incorporate the latest design language from the marque. The bumper extends well into the bonnet and the grille is flanked with LED headlights with L shaped DRLs.
The new SUV’s overall appearance and profile are not much to be said. We expect that the new model will retain the same basic shape as its predecessor but with some tweaks to the finer details to give it a more modern and refined look. We expect sharper headlights, and possibly a LED bar connecting two clusters of boot lids.
Lexus is very quiet about the new RX, and has not revealed any details. This teaser image is all that’s included, with the exception of the announcement that it will debut on May 31. We are confident that the 2023 RX will be launched with electrified engines. According to the rumours, the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 will soon be replaced with a turbocharged turbocharged 2.4 liter inline-4. The same engine will be used in a plug-in hybrid setup that will be the model’s top-of-the-line powertrain.
Inside the cabin, there are more important changes. The company’s new infotainment system with a 12.3 inch touchscreen display will be available. It is very similar to the NX in appearance and function. A new suite of safety systems will likely be in the works.
