The cockpit layout is strikingly similar the Grecale’s multidisplay layout.

The GranTurismo Folgore has been the focus of recent attention within Maserati. Maserati’s all-electric coupe will produce over 1,200 horsepower (895 Kilowatts). However, internal combustion is not dead. We’ll soon see the gasoline-powered GranTurismo before the Folgore.

These spy photos were sent to us anonymously by a Motor1.com reader. The same blue/white/black geometric camo wrapped test car we have seen before was captured in public. This car could have been an older test vehicle. The camo wrap appears to be worn out and the exhaust tips sticking out of the back are visible. The Maserati trinket on the grille is not visible, despite Maserati being printed everywhere. However, the images give a clear and detailed view of the GranTurismo.

What we see inside is of greater importance. The interior layout of the Maserati Grecale is revealed when the prototype is parked. The glass reflections make it hard to see details. However, you can still see the large dual-screen infotainment screen, which is divided with manual controls in its middle. The Grecale-style shape is identical, with the same center console. In the middle of the dash is the iconic Maserati clock, which has narrow climate vents and even an identical steering wheel to the Grecale.

The GranTurismo will also be able to match the Grecale’s undercarriage. Rumours have long pointed to the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Nettuno v6 that powers the MC20. It produces 621 horsepower. It’s also used in the Grecale Trofeo which produces 523 horsepower. Although the base engine of the Grecale is a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder that produces 296 horsepower, it is unlikely to be seen in GranTurismo. At this point, the six-pot is almost certain. The exact output is unknown at this time.

Maserati had originally intended to unveil the GranTurismo in 2013, but COVID-19, global supply chain problems and other factors thwarted that plan. We should see Maserati’s new GT machine officially launched within the next few months, if not weeks. We are betting that it will be soon, considering Maserati drivers leave prototypes unattended and exposed in the public.
