The gasoline engine of 2.0-liters produces 470 horsepower.
The Mercedes-AMG C63 will represent the most drastic example of downsizing that we have seen recently, with no less than four cylinders being lost. The 4.0-liter V8 is being retired by the Affalterbach peeps and will be replaced with the M139 engine in the AMG A45 models. The 2.0-liter four-pot, which will be mounted longitudinally, will produce 470 horsepower and 416 hp.
The prototype was thinly covered at the 2022 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Autocar was also able to get some of the super sedan’s technical specs. A combination of the combustion engine and an electric motor at the rear axle will produce a healthy 201 horsepower. The new will have 670 horsepower when the power of both engines is combined. The hybrid setup delivers 553 pound-feet (575 Newton-meters) more torque than its predecessor.
The C63 will use mild-hybrid technology with a 48V starter motor. This is a modification of the inline-six-powered 53 cars. A nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission will channel the output to the roads. The hybrid powertrain will be lighter than the V8 and have a lower center of gravity, despite being hybrid.
Unlike its rear-wheel-drive-only predecessor, the C63 will lead the way for AMG’s new 4Matic setup. Spy shots show that the sedan will be joined with a more practical wagon. These less practical body styles, such as the coupe or convertible, could be combined with the two-door E-Class models to create the CLE with AMG power.
The new C63 will be revealed in the next weeks or months. The AMG One hypercar, which is the range-topping model in the performance division, will be unveiled tomorrow . It will be joined by other electrified vehicles such as the GT 63 S E Performance or the C43. The C43 has gone from a V6 engine to a M139 four-cylinder unit.
