2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate Spied Up Close With Hybrid Stickers

Is the loss of four cylinders compensated by the electrified setup or AWD?

Although we knew for some time that the next Mercedes-AMG C63 would get a hybrid powertrain from Mercedes-AMG, seeing these yellow stickers still shocks us (get it?) Our spy team was able to get up close and personal from the long-roof competitor from Affalterbach, the BMW M Teaser. The prototype camouflaged in camouflage was not supervised by test drivers, which led to car paparazzi immortalizing the fast wagon.

The high-performance estate was equipped with all the C63 components, except for the Hybrid stickers at the windshield’s top corner and the upper portion of the center console. This high-performance estate has a quad exhaust system and massive brakes. It also has a stiffer suspension. Mercedes may not be able to show the front air intakes, but the Panamericana grille highlights the flagship C-Class.

Mercedes didn’t bother camouflaging the interior so that we could see the red kill switch. This is in case anything goes wrong and the driver needs to turn off all electrical components. The passenger airbag appears to have been removed, but the extra screen and laptop holder, which are prototype-only devices, appear to be present.

The next Mercedes-AMG C63 will lose the V8 engine but gain all-wheel drive. Instead, it will use the M139 engine in the “45” models. This turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine will be used in the next Mercedes-AMG C63, but it will not be the same unit that is found in the smallest AMG models. It will be equipped with an electric turbocharger that will increase the combustion engine’s output to 442 horsepower (330 megawatts). The engine will also be mounted longitudinally, rather than transversely. Fun fact: The e-turbo will come from the AMG One hypercar.

Expect to get over 500 horsepower at all times, and more than 600 horsepower when the electric motor drives the rear wheels. Although dropping the V8 will reduce weight, the additional hybrid-related hardware will make it heavier than the previous model. Our money is on a heavier car.

Mercedes-AMG will sell the C63 as a sedan, but it is possible that there are some modifications to the two-door models. Rumours suggest that the C-Class Coupe will merge with the E-Class Coupe, Convertible and the C-Class Convertible. The simplified lineup may include an AMG CLE 63 sedan with a fixed roof or a folding top.

The sedan and wagon will arrive first before the end, while the more practical body styles are likely to be released in 2023.
