The debut should take place later in the year.
Mercedes is a diverse company with many models. The GLC is no exception. We’ve driven a prototype of the next-generation model HTML22%3A%22mercedes-benz%22%7D so far. We only saw a small glimpse of the crossover in recent spy photos. The GLC is still wearing a camouflage wrap during winter testing, so the new spy photos aren’t quite as dramatic.
Mercedes will offer the new GLC with a variety of performance trims, including the AMG GLC63. Mercedes will offer the AMG 43 AMG variant to ensure that every customer is satisfied. The model’s name will remain at 43, or it may be changed to 45 or 53.
New photos show the car with quad exhaust pipes. However, they are not AMG’s trapezoidal style. These are reserved for top models. The AMG GLC 43 instead has four round tailpipes that poke through the rear diffuser. Although the car does not have AMG’s massive brakes, they are larger than those on the standard GLC.
This test vehicle’s camouflage hides the GLC’s design but can’t conceal its larger size. It is also smaller than the previous model. Mercedes increased its wheelbase by 0.6%, which allowed for more legroom and headroom in the rear seats. Mercedes has continued to conceal the styling details in recent photos, despite the removal of the swirly camouflage.
The GLC will be available with either a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine or a 2.0 liter turbodiesel. However, both engines will be paired to 48-volt mild hybrid systems. The GLC will adopt a four-cylinder powertrain, following the C-Class. This means that the AMG versions will also have four-pot engines. The AMG GLC63 can produce 600 horsepower (447kilowatts), but the smaller AMG GLC43 will generate more than 400 horsepower (294kW). The will also be able to offer a six-cylinder .
Mercedes has already allowed us to drive one so it is likely that a debut will soon be. The unveiling is planned for the end of 2022 with the new crossover going on sale in 2023. We don’t know which configurations or variants Mercedes will offer, but it is expected that Mercedes will keep the crossover at the top of its sales charts.
