Send it out with new lights and a new steering wheel
We are aware that Mercedes-Benz is planning a refresh for the GLE-Class. In recent months, we’ve seen numerous prototypes that hide minor changes under camouflage wrap on both the front and back fascias. This is the AMG GLE63 version, which is muscular and technically our first glimpse of the updated performance model.
This means that we believe this is the first time we have seen it. Only the rear and front lights are covered in camouflage. This vehicle could be hidden better if it did not sport any camouflage wrap, as the changes are very subtle. The AMG version is identical to the standard GLE-Class’s front fascia. Although the headlights may be a little thinner, they are still visible. To properly fit the new lights, it might be worth adding new fenders or a fascia to the mix. You won’t notice any difference if you don’t.
The taillights appear to be the same shape at the back. However, if you look closely, it seems that the reverse lights are now located on the liftgate lenses and not the wide rear fascia. Camouflage tape covers the distance between lenses. This suggests that the chrome strip might be removed or changed. These are the only exterior differences. There’s more.
There’s really not much else. The interior photos, taken by our spy photographer, are very similar to the GLE 63. The devil is in details. The spokes on this steering wheel are different and adopt the same design as the current . Although the photos do not clearly show all of the buttons, there could be changes to the central console.
Given that the GLE 63 is only two years old, we doubt any powertrain changes will occur. The model was launched in late 2019, and it went on sale as a 2021 model the next year. These changes are so small that Mercedes won’t make an official announcement until late 2019. The model will be available as a 2023 model.
