It looks a lot like larger EQSs, but there are differences.
Although rumors of a Mercedes EEQE have circulated on the Internet for nearly a year, it wasn’t until last week that a prototype was captured openly. Today we are going to northern Europe, where our spy saw this interesting electric vehicle.
Although it may look a lot like EQS’s prototype, those who saw the car in metal told us that the prototype was much smaller than Mercedes future flagship EV. One might think that the three-pointed star will be selling standard- and long-wheelbase versions EQS. However, the rear changes suggest a completely different car.
If you look closer, the third brake light is located at the bottom of your rear window instead of at the top on the EQS. The EQE seems to have a standard trunk lid, whereas the larger brother, the Tesla Model S, seemed to have a more practical liftback design.
We believe that the beltline will rise towards the rear due to the camouflage on the windows. This would result in a smaller greenhouse since the glass at the rear would be smaller. The EQE looks much like its larger brother. However, we have seen prototypes of the EQS that had conventional handles.
Although the front of the prototype appears ungainly, it is because of additional disguise on top. The headlights look much like the taillights. They are placeholders and will eventually be replaced by the actual clusters. Mercedes Near-production cars will be tested. The EQE, although not visible in these spy photos, is rumored have four-wheel steering, air suspension and safety features adapted form the GLE-based Experimental Safety Vehicle 2019 unveiling of the (ESF).
The EQE, codenamed V295, will be an electric sedan that is the equivalent of the recently facelifted E Class Sedan. However, it will have a completely different design and a platform exclusively dedicated to EVs. Although it may be shorter than its combustion engine cousin, the cabin will still offer S-Class-level space. The vehicle will be available in an all-wheel-drive configuration with an electric motor at each rear axle. Later, a RWD version may be offered.
When it debuts in 2022, it is expected to have more power than the EQC. It will be joined by other electric models bearing the three-pointed star – EQA and EQB crossovers and the EQV minivan.
