These shots were taken at a testing facility in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Mercedes-Benz SUV EQE was first announced by the German automaker in December 2020. It is the same German automaker that revealed the all-electric EEQE sedan would receive a high-riding model. Our spy photographers later captured a number of prototypes, using production bodies and substantial amounts of disguise. We are able to finally present the luxury SUV with zero emissions. This is the first time that we have seen it in its naked form.
The test car was captured by our spy team at a Mercedes test center near Stuttgart, where the automaker conducts crash tests. This is the result. SUV EQE The orange color and the white front bumper suggest that this vehicle is a crash test car. There is also damage to the front fascia which could indicate that the EV was involved in crash testing sessions. It is also not good to see the gaps between the panels, particularly those around the hood.
Nevertheless, this is the final production look for the EQE SUV – exterior panels look final and lights appear production-ready. The details that are smaller and less obvious can’t be overlooked. The bumper is at least frontal and has all the curves and lines that we will likely see in the final electric SUV. The Mercedes logo is absent from the rear. However, the taillights have been connected to the LED stripe.
Although this is our best view of the new EV SUV, Stuttgart, we are not sure what’s underneath. It is possible that the EQE sedan will share a powertrain range, so a rear drive model will be used as a base version. This model will have 288 horsepower (215 kilowatts), and 391 pound-feet (390 Newton-meters). A dual-motor variant is possible, and an AMG version with a projected power output of 671 horsepower (500 kW) is in development.
All details should be clearer later in the year, when the EQE SUV makes its official debut. Although we don’t yet know the exact date, we believe it will be at the end of this year.
