It looks just like a C Class SUV.
BMW is bold in its new design language, but Mercedes keeps it safe. This next-generation GLC is exactly what we envisioned after seeing the C-Class W206. We don’t mean to be boring, but “predictable” does not always refer to boring when it comes down to vehicle appearance. It’s not the most exciting model within its class, but the new high-ridingC isn’t offensive.
Our spy team spotted a prototype that was in final testing. It looked almost like a customer’s vehicle. It appeared to have all of the production parts in place, including a panoramic roof. It is possible that the 2023 GLC was not spotted on a public road, as it does not have a license plate. The 2023 GLC was not immediately obvious. BMW X3 Rear-wheel steering was offered by a competitor. It is anticipated that it will have a maximum angle between 4.5 and 5.5 degrees.
Although it’s hard to tell, the new GLC is slightly larger than its predecessor. As we’ve been told, the grapevine will grow to 4.72m (185.8inches) and the wheelbase will increase by 15mm (0.6inches). The increased footprint will allow for an additional 50 liters in cargo volume, which will make it 600 liters (21.1 cubes).
All C-Class models have four-pot engines. However, the GLC will come with a six-cylinder engine. The two will share nearly all other powertrains, including the longitudinally mounted HTML139 engine that powers the “43” AMGs and the “63”. A minimum of three plug-in hybrids should be available, one which will combine a diesel engine and an electric motor for 300de.
According to recent reports, Mercedes will announce the 2023 GLC in June and it will be available for sale in Europe starting September. The US-spec version will be available at a later date, as usual. Affalterbach will likely release the sportier variants.
The zero-emissions model, which is being called the EQC SUV, will not borrow the same platform that was used for the EQC. Mercedes promises an electric C Class Sedan on a bespoke platform for EVs. high-riding counterpart is likely to get dedicated electric underpinnings. The EQS SUV will join it, and the upcoming EQE SUV will follow. An electric G-Class (EQG), will be coming in 2024.
