Even at this angle, it is easy to see a lot of changes in comparison to the previous model.

Our spy spies are everywhere. One part of the team is currently stationed in northern Europe to immortalize prototypes for the new Mercedes GLC. This includes plugin hybridvehicles. The compact crossover was being loaded onto a truck by another spy photographer, nearly 1,500 miles away. Surprisingly, the compact crossover didn’t have any camo, although it did have a car cover and protection foil at its tailgate.

The GLC was captured in Stuttgart and appeared to be a prototype that was close to production. All the pieces were in place. The new GLC is easily identifiable by the location of the side mirrors, which have been placed lower on the doors than at the base A-pillars. Since the beltline has risen towards the rear, it is not flat anymore. The door handles are also located lower on the door panel, where the upper character line is less intrusive.
It’s difficult to see, but the new GLC should look larger than its predecessor. Mercedes also sells a seven-seat GLBboxy crossover. They are almost identical in length. This means that the three-pointed star decided to make the GLK’s spiritual successor bigger to avoid overlap. Rest of the photos show fully camouflaged prototypes. Some of these have a PHEV set-up as indicated by the aero wheels at the end and the letter E at the license plate. These GLCs are noticeably taller than the one found in Germany. The 25.4-kWh battery pack that powers the C300e’s latest C300e is expected to be transferred to the electrified model. It has enough juice to provide more than 62 miles (100 km) of electric range. We expect the GLC 300e to be slightly heavier than that, so it might not be as powerful.

For now, the sedan and wagon C-Class models have rear-wheel drive. However, AWD is likely to follow. It would also make sense on the GLC. A turbocharged gasoline engine of 2.0-liter capacity is combined with an electric motor to produce a total output of 308 horsepower (550 Newton-meters) in the C300e. The PHEV sedan takes 6.1 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h). While the wagon takes a tenth of a sec because it is slightly heavier, it takes 6.1 seconds. The top speed of the combustion engine running is 152 mph (245 km/h for the saloon) and slightly lower at 149 mph(240 km/h for the estate). Both top out at 87mph (140 km/h) in EV mode. The wraps will be removed later in the year and the AMG will follow in 2023. The GLC 63e or whatever it is called will switch from a V8 engine to the smaller 2.0-liter unit from the “45” models. The combustion engine and its e-turbo will be mounted longitudinally. It will produce somewhere around 442 horsepower (330 kW) before adding in the electric motor’s additional muscle.
