It could be released before the end the year.
In June, we were shocked to see the partially camouflaged Mercedes GLE test out so quickly after the new-generation model was introduced. But Mercedes is moving ahead with the update. The latest spy photos reveal that the development is continuing, but it seems to be wearing more camouflage now than before.
New spy photos show that the crossover is now wearing more camouflage on the front. This extends to the front fascia. It doesn’t appear to hide anything that we didn’t see in the previous test vehicle. The crossover features a new bumper design and slimmer headlights. Daytime running lights have been redesigned. For now, the rear camouflage remains unchanged. It only covers the taillights. They will likely get a new look. Mercedes will likely give the crossover new wheel designs, which will freshen its appearance.
Although we haven’t had a chance to see the new GLE, we think it would be very similar. Interiors are often left alone during mid-cycle refreshes. However, we could see a new steering column, reorganized content, and the most recent version of MBUX, the company’s ever-evolving infotainment system. Although the exterior changes won’t be making any engine modifications, Mercedes may tweak the engines to make them more powerful and efficient.
We’ve seen the grille on GLE test cars so far. However, it appears that this is a regular GLE model. While it’s unclear if this will continue when the model debuts, we expect that the 2023 model will offer a V8 AMG version if any supply chain issues are resolved by then. It is possible to see the updated crossover before 2021.
