2023 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Designed by Virgil Abloh Makes Its First Debut With Style

It will only be available in very limited quantities in the USA.

Mercedes-Maybach’s Project Maybach concept was a hit in December 2018. It was designed by Virgil Abloh, a renowned fashion designer. After being diagnosed in 2019 with cardiac angiosarcoma, Abloh died in November 2021. His expertise and heritage will continue to live on through the Mercedes-Maybach S680.

This vehicle is the result of the collaboration between Louis Vuitton’s artistic director and the luxury German automotive brand. The new Maybach, designed by Virgil Abloh, is a production model and will be sold in the United States. This is not the Project Maybach which was a show vehicle with a very extravagant design. The model is based upon a 2023 Maybach S-Class S 680 and has a production run of only 39 units.

The appearance of the luxury sedan was made possible by Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz Chief Designer Officer. Before Abloh’s death in November, the vehicle was completed in 2021. The customization and craftsmanship team at Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur Sindelfingen has made the project a reality.

The exterior design of the Maybach S-Class is a two-tone scheme. It features a beige main colour and a contrasting black roof and bonnet. Although it may seem odd, the signature Maybach 20 inch wheels are finished in the same beige color. This color combination is identical to the one featured on Project Maybach a few month ago.

Interior color scheme is identical with fine beige leather used for the doors, seats, armrests and lower section of dashboard. Nearly everything in the interior is made of black leather, as you can see from the top screen. Mercedes-Maybach claims that the center console now has a customized user interface. This is a more luxurious version of the MBUX system.

The Maybach S680’s V12 engine is a 6.0-liter, 450 horsepower, 6.0-liter V12 . The luxury limousine can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds from a stop. Electronically, the top speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).
