A dealer memo allegedly posted online shows a Nissan Z timetable.
Here is a brief timeline of the Nissan Z so far. The world received its first official teaser in May 2020 that a new Nissan sportscar was on the way. We were able to see the Z Proto in September 2020. It was very close to production, Nissan claimed. It was almost a year later that the official Z broke cover in August 2021. This was almost a clone of the Proto.
We are now about to enter March 2022, and the 400-horsepower Z is still not among us. Nissan has been reluctant to commit to an on-sale day, but a Nissan dealer may have forced it. Unnamed Nissan dealers have posted a timeline detailing the Z’s next few months. This was a recent post on the New Nissan Z forum. If accurate, production should begin in March and sales in June.
Although the longer answer provides more details, it does not provide any specific dates. This alleged timeline depicts a prelaunch period, which is what we are currently in. This is in line with Nissan’s Super Bowl advertisement which featured the Z in an action-style movie. Media first drives will be held in April after production began in March. This could coincide with the New York Auto Show, which is scheduled for April 15-24. The timeline lists a Nissan North America field meeting for May. Sales in June will follow and a marketing campaign launches in August.
Motor1.com reached out to Nissan in an effort to confirm the information. However, the automaker did not respond.
The new Z will be available for purchase this year, we know that. This much is known, but determining a time frame for Z production may prove difficult. The global implications of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine means that there is a lot of volatility in the market. However, if our ZProto first look shows, it should be an excellent performance machine that is worth the wait.
